Diatonic Seventh Arpeggios
Seventh Arpeggio Fingerings
Learning seventh arpeggios is very similar to learning the basic arpeggios (triads). There are four different notes in any seventh arpeggio, so we must memorize four different shapes for each arpeggio quality (type). Again, we must memorize where the root notes are for each shape, and we must memorize which shape comes before and after each shape. Playing fast seventh arpeggios has always been very difficult for guitar players to learn. I have devised these fingerings to allow for you to play them insanely fast with economy picking. Be able to play from the lowest note up as well as the lowest note down. Watch the videos for explanations and examples and techniques to use.
Once you can play any arpeggio in time, it is essential to learn how to change from any arpeggio, to any other arpeggio, in generally the same position in time. That is why it is important to have some stock pre-made 8th note, triplet, 16th note, sextuplet and possibly 32nd note licks prepared. Try to learn to sequence them over common chord progressions in time, and then you will be ready to use them in your solos.
I think it is essential that you learn and study chords/arpeggios and scales. However, you must not just learn the fingerings and play the scales up and down. You must learn to improvise with them. You must learn to make them sound like music.
